Announcing our first children's book, Scottie & Rooh Make Plans.

The Story
When Scottie and Rooh are stuck inside for many rainy days with little to do, Rooh invents a new game to lift their spirits, called “Let’s Make Some Plans.” They build a special Planning Fort and settle in to daydream the day away, making as many plans as they can to banish their boredom and frustration. With enthusiastic imagination, they plan their way through all four seasons, realizing the fun of having something to look forward to and the joy of making plans together.

How it began
Scottie & Rooh came into being one day many years ago while on the telephone with my sister. I was scribbling in my sketchbook as we had a good chat and there appeared on the page, quite out of the blue, an elephant and giraffe. From that day forth, they took on a life of their own within my imaginary world and I began the adventure of illustrating Scottie & Rooh. Always letting them take the lead, they show up in ways that deeply reflect the joy, peace and belonging that I experience through the love and companionship of my sister and those most dear to me.
About this book
After years of receiving sweet greeting cards featuring Scottie & Rooh, created by her cousin Rosannah, Honey Sepeda sincerely wanted to share them with the world somehow.
The idea for how to do that came from a conversation Honey had with her mother when they commiserated about being in a funk, sharing a feeling of being in a rut as if the future was behind them. At that time, neither of them had anything to look forward to—nothing on the calendar, just daily routine. Then, it hit them both to make a plan. By the time they ended the conversation, Honey was clearing her schedule and booking a flight to visit her mother. It was just the reset they both needed.
When Honey thought back on that conversation, she was hit with a sudden inspiration. She jumped up and ran to the keyboard to start writing. Just as she and her mother had realized years ago, Scottie and Rooh needed to make some plans.
The following week, Honey read about a study that revealed people often had as much fun planning a vacation as taking the vacation itself, proving the true power of the human imagination! Sometimes, all we need is a plan.

Creator & Illustrator
Rosannah von Moritz lives in the Catskills with her husband and their two birds, Uno and Cheeks. She is deeply influenced by the natural world. She is most rooted in herself creatively when out in the garden or forest, observing and engaging with plant and animal life and chatting with any and all obliging creatures. Much of what she creates is inspired by her love for plants and animals and the heartfelt experiences she has shared throughout her life with the people most dear to her.

Author
